School Performance Fact Sheet
The mission of Airstreams Renewables, Inc. (ARI) is to offer the highest quality hands-on safety and technical training programs available within the Renewable Energy Industry. We empower our students with the knowledge and skills required for successful employment in a renewable energy career, helping to create a greener tomorrow.
Two indicators of our success are our completion and placement rates. Our Wind Turbine Technician Safety and Technical program offers training that prepares students for an entry-level wind turbine technician position. Since offering this course, 99% of the students who enrolled have completed the program. From our February 2010 graduating class, 70% of the students have been employed in the renewable energy field. Positions used to determine the number of graduates employed in the field for purposes of calculating job placement rates include installation technicians, commissioning technicians, operations and maintenance technicians, and assembly technicians. These rates were calculated pursuant to Article 16 of Assembly Bill No. 48, Chapter 310.
At this time, wind turbine technicians are not required to pass a license or certification examination. We continue to closely monitor the industry and will be prepared to offer the appropriate program if this becomes a requirement.
Wind turbine technicians inspect, diagnose, adjust, or repair wind turbines. They perform maintenance on wind turbine equipment including resolving electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic malfunctions. They may also assist in assembly of individual wind generators or construction of wind farms. There is a projection of approximately 41, 800 additional job openings between 2008-2010, with approximately 170,000 positions available in 2008. The median wage for this position in 2009 was $17.08 an hour, varying by company and location. Per diem is often included in total wages.
