CONSTRUCTION TRACT

Whether you have prior construction experience or not, this tract offers the easiest point of entry into the Renewable Energy/Wind Industry.

For those with:

No prior Wind Industry experience, we recommend...
  - AS1105 Wind Turbine Construction Safety Course (14 Days)

For those with:

Prior Wind Industry experience…
Airstreams courses are designed in a modular format which enables students to take exactly what they need for career advancement.
We recommend the following classes that can be taken stand alone
or in any combination:
  - WE1001 Competent Climber (ENSA)
  - AS1101 OSHA 10
  - AS1102 CPR/First Aid
  - AS1106 Electrical Safety in the Wind Industry
  - AS1111 Crane Signaling and Rigging Practices
  - AS1110 Rough Terrain Forklift


TECHNICAL/MAINTENANCE TRACT

This tract is especially suited for those who may have an electrical, mechanical or engineering background or have recently been released from the military and desire to safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot wind turbines as a career.

For those with:

No prior Wind Industry experience, we recommend...
  - AS1001 Wind Turbine Safety and Technical Course (20 Days)

For those with:

Prior Wind Industry experience…
Airstreams courses are designed in a modular format which enables students to take exactly what they need for career advancement.
We recommend the following classes that can be taken stand alone
or in any combination:
  - WE1001 Competent Climber (ENSA)
  - AS1104 Comprehensive Safety in the Wind Industry (Safety only)
  - AS1002 Wind Turbine Technician (Technical only)
  - AS1106 Electrical and Electrical Metering Safety
  - AS1103 Wind Turbine Blade Repair/Composites Course
  - Level II Maintenance (Idaho Wind Park/5 Days)

 

Salary/Pay Ranges (Wind Turbine Technician - Entry Level)

Level 1 / Entry Level Technician: $15 to $20 per hour (0 to 2 years experience)
Level 2 / Mid Level Technician: $18 to $23 per hour (2 to 4 years experience)
Level 3 / High Level Technician: $20 to $28 per hour (4 + years of experience)

These are general estimates as wages can vary between companies and job titles. For example: traveling technicians tend to make a little more than non traveling technicians. A person with relevant experience from another industry could, in some cases, come in at the mid or high level pay range as well.
